Sermorelin is a 29-amino-acid fragment of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, the signal your hypothalamus normally sends to the pituitary. It works upstream: instead of injecting growth hormone itself, sermorelin prompts your pituitary to release the growth hormone it already makes. Because that release stays pulsatile and subject to your body's own feedback loops, the ceiling is your own physiology.
Sermorelin has the most defensible regulatory position of any growth hormone peptide. It was FDA-approved as Geref, used to diagnose growth hormone deficiency, and that approval was withdrawn in 2009 at the manufacturer's request for business reasons rather than any safety finding. That history is why licensed compounding pharmacies prepare it and physicians across all fifty states prescribe it, while other growth hormone peptides remain unavailable.
What it is not is a proven anti-aging treatment. Sermorelin reliably raises growth hormone and IGF-1 levels, which is a pharmacologic effect, not a clinical outcome.
