Frequently Asked Questions
What is the P-Shot®?
The P-Shot® (Priapus Shot®) is a non-surgical treatment that uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood. PRP contains concentrated platelets and growth factors that are injected into targeted areas as part of a regenerative treatment approach for men's sexual wellness.
How does the P-Shot® work?
The treatment begins with a blood draw, from which platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is isolated and prepared. After a topical anesthetic is applied, the concentrated PRP is injected into specific areas as part of a treatment plan designed to support tissue repair and function.
What concerns can the P-Shot® address?
PRP penile injections may be used as part of a treatment plan focused on erectile function, blood flow, sensitivity, sexual satisfaction, and overall sexual wellness. Individual results vary and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Does the P-Shot® increase penis size?
The P-Shot® is not intended to be a penile enlargement procedure. While some patients report perceived changes in girth or size following treatment, these changes are variable, typically modest, and not guaranteed. Most patients pursue the P-Shot® as part of a treatment plan focused on sexual wellness, erectile function, circulation, and overall sexual satisfaction rather than size enhancement. Individual results vary, and significant enlargement should not be expected.
Does the P-Shot® increase penis size?
Some patients report perceived improvements in penile girth or length; however, changes in size are variable and not guaranteed. Any changes that occur are typically modest, and individual results vary significantly.
Can the P-Shot® help with erectile function?
PRP penile injections may help support erectile function and blood flow in appropriate candidates. However, erectile dysfunction can have many underlying causes, and results vary from person to person.
Will I be swollen after treatment?
Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or sensitivity can occur following treatment and is considered a normal part of the healing process. These effects are typically temporary and improve within several days.
Can the P-Shot® be combined with other treatments?
Yes. PRP therapy may be incorporated into a broader sexual wellness treatment plan and may be combined with other therapies when clinically appropriate. Your provider will discuss the options best suited to your goals and medical history.
Does the treatment hurt?
Most patients tolerate treatment well. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, and patients typically describe only mild pinching, pressure, or temporary discomfort during the procedure.
Will I bruise after treatment?
Possibly. Any time we place a needle into the skin, bruising is a possibility. Temporary bruising, redness, tenderness, minor bleeding, or swelling can occur at the injection sites and generally improve within a few days.
Is PRP safe?
Because PRP is derived from your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction is very low. As with any medical procedure, potential risks and side effects will be reviewed during your consultation before treatment.
Is there any downtime?
Most patients can resume normal daily activities the same day. Mild soreness, swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising may occur but generally resolve quickly.
What should I avoid before treatment?
To help minimize bruising and support optimal healing, we generally recommend avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before treatment and avoiding blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil, vitamin E, turmeric, garlic, and ginkgo for 5–7 days prior, if medically appropriate. Arrive well-hydrated after eating a light meal, and follow any provider-specific instructions regarding preparation. Do not stop prescription medications unless directed by your healthcare provider.
What should I avoid after treatment?
Following treatment, we generally recommend avoiding anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen), alcohol, strenuous exercise, and excessive heat exposure for at least 24 hours. Keep the treatment area clean and avoid unnecessary pressure or irritation. Follow all post-treatment instructions provided by your provider.
When can I resume sexual activity?
Sexual activity may typically be resumed within 24 hours following treatment unless otherwise directed by your provider. If your treatment is part of a specific protocol, additional instructions may be provided.
When will I see results?
Results are not immediate and typically develop gradually over several weeks as biological healing and regenerative processes occur. Individual results vary.
How many treatments will I need?
A series of treatments performed over several weeks is often recommended to optimize outcomes. Maintenance treatments may also be recommended based on your goals and response to treatment.
How long do results last?
Results vary between individuals. Reported duration of benefit may last approximately 12–18 months, although outcomes depend on factors such as age, overall health, circulation, lifestyle, and the condition being treated.
Are results guaranteed?
No. Results cannot be predicted or guaranteed. Sexual wellness outcomes are influenced by many factors, including age, circulation, hormone levels, overall health, lifestyle factors, and underlying medical conditions.
Am I a candidate for the P-Shot®?
Many men seeking a non-surgical approach to sexual wellness may be candidates for PRP treatment. However, treatment may not be appropriate if you have an active infection, certain bleeding or clotting disorders, are taking certain blood-thinning medications, have significant untreated medical conditions affecting sexual function, or have recently undergone procedures involving the treatment area. During your consultation, we'll review your medical history and goals to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.
